6th East Asia and Pacific Ministerial Consultation on Children, 5-7 May 2003


Singapore is participating in the 6th East Asia and Pacific Ministerial Consultation on Children which is being held in Bali from 5-7 May.



The Singapore delegation is led by Mr Chan Soo Sen, Minister of State, Prime Minister's Office and Ministry of Community Development and Sports. (Please see Annex A for composition of the delegation).

Objectives of Meeting

2. The objectives of the meeting are to:

(i) review progress on the implementation of commitments made towards ''A World Fit For Children'', an outcome document adopted by the United Nations Assembly Special Session on Children, which spells out the 10-year action plan for children in the world;

(ii) identify priority challenges for children in the region;

(iii) agree on strategies to strengthen national planning and ensure coordination, implementation and resources to fulfill commitments for children; and

(iv) adopt the ? Bali Consensus on Partnerships with and for Children, which will be based on the Millennium Development Goals and the World Fit for Children document.
