MOS Yu-Foo Yee Shoon Leads Delegation to Women's Summit 2010 in Kuala Lumpur

Mrs Yu-Foo Yee Shoon, Minister of State for Community Development, Youth and Sports, will lead a delegation to the Women's Summit 2010 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 8 to 9 December 2010.  She will also call on Dato’ Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, Malaysian Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, on 10 December 2010.

The Women’s Summit was launched by the Malaysian Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (MWFCD) in 2003 to discuss critical issues affecting women’s role and status in the workplace. It is held annually as part of MWFCD’s celebration of National Women’s Day in Malaysia and has become a focal point for discussing pertinent issues that impact women and their role in nation building. The theme for this year’s Summit is “Changing Mindsets. Transforming Lives”.

Mrs Yu-Foo will deliver a speech on Singapore’s programmes and initiatives to promote gender equality and strengthen women’s participation in the economy at the Summit. She will also participate in The Gender Agenda Roundtable on 9 December. She is accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports.
