Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports will be leading a delegation to attend the Third East Asia Ministerial Forum on Families (EAMFF) in Bali, Indonesia from 17 to 19 November 2008.
Dr Balakrishnan will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports.
The EAMFF is a platform for countries in the East Asia region to share experiences on family issues and explore co-operative partnerships. The theme of the Forum is ''Strengthening Family Resilience: Moving from Policy to Action''.
Dr Balakrishnan will be delivering a statement which will focus on the progress of various initiatives to build resilient families in Singapore. Ministers will also discuss issues including the strengthening of collaboration between countries on programmes on resilient families at the Forum.
The 2nd EAMFF was hosted by Singapore in November 2006. The inaugural biennial EAMFF took place in Vietnam in 2004 and was co-organised by the National Commission for Population, Family and Children, Socialist Republic of Vietnam and then Department of Family and Community Services, Commonwealth of Australia.
