Minister of State Halimah Yacob to Attend a High-Level Policy Dialogue Chaired by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton at APEC Women Summit in San Francisco


Mdm Halimah Yacob, Minister of State for Community Development, Youth and Sports, will lead a delegation to the APEC 2011 Women and the Economy Summit where she will participate in a High-Level Policy Dialogue on 16 September chaired by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The Summit will be held in San Francisco from 13 to 16 September 2011.
 
Mdm Halimah will be accompanied by Professor Chan Heng Chee, Singapore’s Ambassador to the US; Mrs Laura Hwang, President, Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations; Ms Elim Chew, Founder & President, 77th Street (S) Pte Ltd; and officials from the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports and Singapore’s Embassy in Washington DC.
 
APEC Women and the Economy Summit (WES) 
 
The APEC WES is a premier event bringing together senior private and public sector officials for a dialogue on fostering women’s economic empowerment among the APEC economies. It aims to integrate women more fully into APEC economic planning and policy development. Besides fostering women economic empowerment, the APEC WES will also focus on access to markets and capital, capacity building and leadership.
