Minister of State, Mrs Yu-Foo Yee Shoon to Speak on Singapore's ''Many Helping Hands'' Partnership at Global Summit's Women Ministerial Roundtable in Santiago, Chile, From 14 - 16 May 2009


Minister of State Mrs Yu-Foo Yee Shoon will make an official visit to Chile from 14 to 16 May 2009 to attend the Roundtable of Women Government Ministers at the Global Summit of Women 2009.

The Global Summit of Women is an annual event where women leaders from government, business and non-governmental organisations share strategies and solutions to accelerate women's economic progress. The theme for this year's Summit is ''Setting New Paradigms for Business and Political Leadership''.

The Roundtable will focus on ''Public/Private Sector Partnerships: Advancing Women's and Girls' Economic Progress''. Participating ministers will share experiences and best practices in policy and services implementation and in government and business collaborations which impact their female population.

Mrs Yu-Foo will be making a presentation on Singapore's ''Many Helping Hands'' approach, highlighting Singapore's 3P - the public, private and people sectors' partnership on policies and services to empower women to fulfill their multiple roles in society. As Mrs Yu-Foo chairs the 14th APEC Women Leaders Network (WLN) Meeting Steering Committee, she will also take the opportunity to share Singapore's plans for the 14th WLN Meeting which will be held in Singapore on 4 to 5 August 2009.

Mrs Yu-Foo will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports.
