Good morning.
I am delighted to join you at this morning's event to mark the NOL Group's donation of one million dollars to ten Singapore charities.
It is heartening to see NOL among the leaders of a trend among Singapore's private sector organisations to increasingly embrace corporate social responsibility.
More companies today are recognising that their success, in no small way, is related to the well-being and stability of the communities in which they operate.
NOL, among other MNCs, is making a meaningful contribution to communities here and, increasingly, all over the world. MNCs such as NOL are global champions of Singapore and highlight our values of compassion and generosity.
Fortunately, the good performance of the Singapore economy has assisted Singapore businesses and individuals, to give back to those members of our society that need help the most.
It is crucial that our elderly, disadvantaged and underprivileged are fully integrated into our society, as Singapore becomes an even more inclusive society where, regardless of physical and economic challenges, everyone has a chance to realise their dreams.
But it takes more than financial support for that to happen. There must also be understanding and engagement, which can only come about through interaction. So, it's great to see NOL this morning actively encouraging its employees to become volunteers.
Thank you for your compassion and for the generosity of your time and your financial commitment to the less fortunate amongst us.
Thank you.
