The Human Development Index (HDI) is a composite index that measures the average achievements in a country in 3 basic dimensions of human development. The maximum score is 1.
The 3 basic dimensions are:
- a long and healthy life (health), as measured by life expectancy at birth;
- access to knowledge (education), as measured by mean of years of schooling for adults aged 25 years and expected years of schooling for children of school entering age; and
- A decent standard of living (income), as measured by Gross National Income (GNI) per capita in purchasing power parity (PPP) US dollars
According to the
Human Development Report 2011 produced by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Singapore is ranked 26th out of 187 countries with a score of 0.866.
